United Artists will develop DIE A LITTLE, a crime thriller, which will be produced by Richard Gladstein through his FilmColony and Jessica Biel's Iron Ocean Films. Based on Megan Abbott's novel of the same name, DIE A LITTLE explores how the insular world of a schoolteacher and her LAPD detective brother is turned upside down by a beautiful and mysterious woman (Biel). Marcia and Geoffrey Blake are writing the script and originally pitched the book-based project.
Gladstein will produce the film, along with Biel and her producing partner Michelle Purple, for their company Iron Ocean Films, who optioned the book. Biel will also star in the picture. FilmColony's Neil Parris brought the project to the company and will executive produce.
Gladstein is a two-time Academy Award nominated producer; for FINDING NEVERLAND and THE CIDER HOUSE RULES. His other producing credits include the recently released THE NANNY DIAIRES with Scarlett Johansson and the upcoming highly anticipated Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium starring Dustin Hoffman and Natalie Portman, which will be released by Fox Walden November 16. Other credits include hurlyburly, the bourne identity and John Madden's killshot due out in early 2008.
Biel, one of Hollywood's most sought-after actresses, was seen most recently in THE ILLUSIONIST, alongside Edward Norton and Paul Giamatti, and in the comedy I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU CHUCK AND LARRY, opposite Adam Sandler and Kevin James. She is currently in production on POWDER BLUE, in which she stars opposite Forrest Whitaker, Patrick Swayze, and Ray Liotta. |
