Q: How can I watch the ScreamStream? A: Press the button that says "Watch Now". Your browser will do the rest. Q: It's telling me I need the Quicktime Plugin. What the hell? A: We spent months working out the best combination of server/format/file size configurations and we finally settled on a Quicktime stream. It's just easier to work with than anything else out there. The only thing you need is the Quicktime plugin for your browser installed. If a window opens telling you you need the plugin, click okay and let the it load. You'll be glad you did.
Q: I pressed the "Watch Now" button, but nothing happened. A: When you pressed the button, did you see a flash, or hear a funny noise? That means your pop-up blocker stopped the player from opening. Either turn off the pop-up blocker or configure it to allow the ScreamStream to pass through. Q: I pressed the "Watch Now" button, and I can see a picture, but no sound's coming out. What now? A: According to the code warriors that put together the streaming server software we're using, it's probably something simple, like an internet traffic problem. The easiest answer is to close the player window and open it again. If it doesn't work the first time, try it a second or third time. That usually clears up the error. Q: I opened and closed that stupid player 10 times and it still doesn't play audio. What now? A: If the audio still doesn't play, try this: Open your Quicktime player. If you don't have Quicktime player installed, you can get it here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html When you open Quicktime Click File > Open URL and enter: rtsp://64.182.91.33/ScreamStream.sdp then press ok. The stream should start playing in Quicktime. Q: That worked! So why can't I get the pop-up player to work? A: Most likely, there's a security setting blocking something. If you have a hardware firewall, configure it to allow traffic through port 80. Q: Why can't I get the stream to work by typing rtsp://blahblahblah into my browser? A: Usually, you'll just get an error message, but it depends. If you have the right player installed, you may be able to do just that. For example, if you've got RealPlayer installed, it will take over your system and assume it should play everything. Luckily, RealPlayer is able to handle an rtsp stream |
